Actually my first question would be :

Shoul I get the FX-53 S940 or S939 socket? :? and why?

Ok, so I absolutely need to keep a AGP 8x slot on my new motherboard for my Radeon9800, rest doesnt matter, is it actually possible to have a motherboard with PCI EX and AGP?! (at a reasonable price of coarse)!

Please pros answer me!

940 is mostly for Server ,and 939 is desktop .
A 3400+ is better since it cost only around 280$ and it has the same clock speed as the FX-53 just not the extra cache?
The FX S939 will be faster, overclock better, and a longer lasting socket, ,the speed of PCI EX won't be used for years from now.

Opteron in disguise)... is a s940 SledgeHammer which are supposed to be not very good overclockers.

The 4000+ is rebadged FX-53. The only difference I can think of is the 4000+ will not have an unlocked multiplier.
As far as a good overclocker tho it's the 3800+, or s939 FX-53
Here's something to read about the 4000 + FX55

btw I chosed FX53 because so far its supposely the best system for gaming...

All I do is gaming, I dont really care about have AWESOME graphics what I need is to be able to play with quite no choppyness or lag.

Im a hardcore gamer and I want the best for HL2!

so... any other proposition then the AMD64 fx series? or what would be the perfect cpu at a realistic price?

Yea get the FX53 ! what I forgot was ? is that the prices for it are going to coming down real soon (before the end of Oct. ) so if you can wait a few more weeks,,yea there's nothing wrong with geting that at all .Plus
like I said the price will be right.

Alot opeople are waiting also for this board (EPoX 9NDA3+ NF3 Ultra Socket 939 Mainboard)

Epox 9NDA3+ motherboard...it will probably be out in around 2-3 weeks
it will be priced to compete with

These are your other choices :

Asus A8V
Abit AV8
Gigabyte K8N
MSI K8N Neo2
I am a big fan of MSI and really like the MSI K8N Neo2
There is a lot of stability issues people are having with these Mobo's
Thats why is it worth waiting for the epox.

This is one of the only places that has it now :
http://www.censuspc.com/Merchant2/merch ... e=_MOT0022

$140.00, not bad for (what they say could be the best S939 board)

Axiontech also has it

I would go with that or the Neo 2

If you want the best for gaming, videocard is way more important than processor. A GeForce 6800 over your Radeon 9800 will reap you greater benefits than the difference between FX or not.

You need a Base before you can build .If your processor is not up to par
then you have what is commonly called a bottleneck.
Seems you have alot to learn !
You would never match a 6800 up with last years technology.
Case in point ,I have a friend that has an Intel Desktop Board D875PBZ
2.80A GHz ,533 MHz fsb ,with a 1 MB L2 cache,he has it overclocked ,to
like 3.30Ghz ,,But guess what he's smart he knows that if he wants to
utilize a 6800 Ultra ,He's got to upgrade. He needs a 910, 915 and 925 chipset family-based boards. So for right now he will stay with he's 5950 ultra.

So if you have a 6800 on anything thats a year old ,meaning processor
and board ..you wasted your money ,,and should have bought that first .
Cause the way your talking ,your building A@@ backwards.

And the FX your talking about is not what we are talking about ! ? .lol It's AMD's flagship Athlon 64 FX-53 processor.

No I was talking to him ,,it seemed like he jumped in ,and read none of the thread ,and what you and I were talking about.lol
Yea your fine ,that will give you a system that will keep you happy for the next 3 years , I would worry about upgrading newer video cards ,and newer ram ..but thats it .(and everybody does that anyway)in that time period.

Yeah you're only as good as your weakest link. Get a good processor like the AMD. They don't use as much power and stay cooler. Not sure about Overclocking but with that GF6800 and a good board with the FX53 you will have a fast pc
