I'm looking at two laptops, one is obviously better but only has an onboard video, the other isn't as good but has a vidoe card and dual core processor. Here are some of the details

Dell
1024 RAM
Intel M 2.0 Processor
80 Gig HDD
Integrated Nvidia GeForce 900
DVD Burner

Gateway
512 RAM
ATI 128 MB Video
Intel 1.2 Dual Core processor
60 Gig HDD

Is the video card worth it, or just go with the onboard but faster Dell?

If you don't intend to play games on your laptop, then Dell is your better choice.

But if you want Intel processor in your laptop, then try to find those with Centrino cpu, otherwise i would go for AMD

i personally like the new dell 9400. it's pretty nice. you should look at it. it's got dual core or single core options. plust you can add on a 7800 gt graphic card. plus it's a 17 in screen with really really high resolution. i don't have one, but my friend does and it seems like it's really nice. you can get one for around $1100.

yup, that's the one.

I want one too :(

I have an inspiron 2700 or 2300 that is 3 years old. XP is starving for memory, seeing him get a new laptop is really making me want a new one.

Next January I'll get a new laptop! :D

I think toshiba ,ibm are these best laptop.
Your laptop must have detail:
not weight(2 >2.5)
battery is long( 4 hour)
Ram must be 512 (for future use)
Card (maybe 32 or 64 is better).

the e1705 no longer ships with a 7800go :( you have to use the excrement-pile x1400 because they ran out of the 7800's. good news is, you can wait a month and you have to call by phone to order one with a 7800...
