Yesterday i bought titan cooler for my barton 2500+ cpu and after some time(1-2 min) it shuts down. Now, it is not overclocked, its not overheated, its attached good...
First there is some noise(peep!) i never heard before when i start computer.
I can get into bios but when win xp loads it shuts down immediately.
is there something fixable in bios and how? my motherboard is asus a7v8x-x

any help GREATLY appreciated!

Try removing the new cooler and putting the old one back on and see what happens.

Also, did you add some thermal paste when you replaced the cooler?

Yes, i put back the old cooler and it worked fine, until i start something more demanding(games, some software) and it shuts down again. And dont know whats the problem, everything worked excellent for 2 years until i put this new cooler.
oh and yes i added thermal paste when i replaced cooler.

In some mobo the default setting tries to overclock specially in asus. Have you checked the overclocking option? Also try disabling the "shutdown temperature" in the Bios.
