Why is this such a *plum* motherboard?

I bought an Asus Strike II Extreme about this time last year, and have no yet managed to get it to work. I have taken it back to Asus to get it replaced, three times already. This supposedly 'OCers board' can't even run using the default BIOS settings. I haven't been bothered to put this $550 board back in because I'm just sick of switching boards and having it not working.
