Someone has probably already asked this question, but I didn't see a "search" window, and at 58 I don't have enuff time left to browse all the pages looking for an answer so............

I had 256 MB PC2100 DDR in my comp when pruchased.
No Mfgr's name or numbers on that stick.

I bought a 256 MB stick from Crucial, same clock speed as the original, same type.

Windows says I have 256 MB installed.
Everest says I have 256 installed but:

[ Memory Modules / DIMM 1 ]

Memory Module Properties:
Socket Designation DIMM 1
Type DIMM, SDRAM
Installed Size 256 MB
Enabled Size 256 MB

[ Memory Modules / DIMM 2 ]

Memory Module Properties:
Socket Designation DIMM 2
Type DIMM, SDRAM
Installed Size 256 MB
Enabled Size 256 MB

, and Belarc says:

256 Megabytes Installed Memory
Slot 'DIMM 1' has 256 MB
Slot 'DIMM 2' has 256 MB

with this footnote: "c. Memory slot contents may not add up to Installed Memory if some memory is not recognized by Windows."

256 + 256 used to equal 512. Any ideas out there? I need'em 'cause I'm just...........................

What OS? If XP - SP1 or SP2?

Try this freeware program PC Wizard 2004
http://www.cpuid.com/pcw.php

It will show you the manufacturers info for both chips. If you are on XP SP2 check the Microsoft hardware compatability list:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -us;314062

Added note for future reference. At the top of all OZZU pages under the logo at the left is a search link that will let you search OZZU using our built in search or google.

Sorry, I knew to post that info, just forgot.

Win XP Home, SP2

PC Wizard won't give the info, just starts Sys Analisys and never stops. :(

Everest does give it however and it is as follows:

SPD Memory Modules:
Micron Tech. 8VDDT3264AG-265G4 256 MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM (CL 2.5 @ 133 MHz) (CL 2.0 @ 100 MHz)
256 MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM 256 MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM (CL 2.5 @ 133 MHz) (CL 2.0 @ 100 MHz)

The Crucial stick is not ID'd.

I could find NO memory listed in the Windows Catalog of HCL Hardware.

Oh, and thanks for locating the search tab. I knew a site like this HAD to have one, just couldn't find it. But then, I do good to find my way home at night. :)

Just learned that Micron no longer makes that particular stick if that matters.

Hopefully you'll be back to say more of a hello as well...we all make little mistakes, even those that have "done this for years"...

Nice to see you got it solved.
