Hi:

Is there any way to know if someone is using my wireless network? Or prevent unauthorized people from using it?

Seems to me that anyone within range can just use, no passwords or anything.

Thanks

yep wireless networks are very hard to protect, new hardware comes with WEP, which stops your idle passerby with a laptop from getting onto your network. But its no match for a determined hacker. the easiest way to secure your network is to make sure the range doesn't extend into any public places.

And for seeing whoes on your network just go to My Network Places

If "security" is your thing then there is nothing more secure than a wired network.

Within your router's settings (probably http://192.168.0.1) there should be a listing of all connected devices. It will probably list MAC address, assigned IP address, and possibly the computer names. If you see a machine on there that you don't own, someone is leaching your bandwidth.

On my router I have MAC filtering set, so that kinda makes it hard to connect to it.
