This has me a bit baffled. Since I got my Gateway laptop last year I'd been using a DLink wireless PCMCIA card. At work I use Orinoco Proxim Wireless Access points and at home I use a Lynksys WirelessG Broadband Router 2.4Ghz with Speedboost. With the DLink card I had a consistant and stable 54Mbps connection with no glitches ever. Unfortunately it crapped out on me and I'm currently working off my internal Intel 2200BG card.

Problem now is even tho signal strength normally shows excellent, speed will fluctuate at random (but way to frequently) between 6.0Mbps and 54.0Mbps. If it drops below 12 most websites won't even load, or take forever to load or timeout. I've even had it drop as low as 1.0Mbps and sometime it even disconnects entirely.

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? It's not a huge concern because I'm purchasing a new DLink card this week, but I'd love to learn the root cause.

I know your alot more knowledgable then me about this stuff, but here are my 2 cents.

All i can think of is updating the drivers to make it more compatible with more types of routers.

Thanks hyawatha15 Drivers are current. What's odd is when I get to work in the AM it will connect and run just fine for about 10 minutes then simply disconnect and I have to reconnect. It does exactly the same thing when I get home. I have both networks set to WirelessG only.
