windows shows the device as inactive, yet somehow i can type and post this message.

the device is blinking, showing activity, but when i double click the icon, it says "Wireless Netwrok Unavailable"

its not really a big problem, i'd just like to get it fixed.

btw: its a "Dell Truemobile 1180 Wireless USB Adapter"

i'm not too aware of what makes dell tick, but this is a good windows situation:...

go to Start>Run
then type:
%systemroot%\system32\services.msc /s

Select "Wireless Zero Configuration"
and Start the service

you should have something to work with at that point...

peace.

a couple of suggestions then:
look into updating the driver for the part
do you have a dell install disk?
does dell have some kind of wireless utility
uninstall the driver and hardware and reinstall it

theres no way to update the driver. dell has a way of shunning products more than 2 years old

i have the dell install disk, however, after re-installing and installing several hundred times, its become a tad worn out.

dell does have a wirelss utitlity and it shows the device as inactive and not connected to any wireless network, however, i obvioulsy am.

uninstalling is ther first thing i tried so i dont see how it could help. however, i would try again.
