Post 3+ Months Ago

Hello,
I am currently running a website on this specification:
10 MB of database space
250 MB of data storage
5 GB of monthly traffic

So far after about a week I have used this much:
MySQL MB 1.00 out of 9
Storage MB 40.11 out of 209.89
Traffic MB 0 out of 5000.00

My storage isn't that much of a an issue (that's mainly due to a backlog of uploading images but it's hard to say how many more images I'll have to use in future)

My database is an issue as I have used 10% of it already and I have a wordpress blog and a gallery running off it. I don't have much experience with databases so I have no idea how much I will use in future. Anyone got any idea? (Don't know if this helps; I have 86 posts on wordpress and 500+ pictures on coppermine)

This is currently a freehost which is fantastic. I would consider upgrading if I need to and this is what they offer:
500 MB Disk Space, 10,000 MB Traffic, 25 MB Database space for just under $20
Is this good?

I also have another host (which my domain is registered with but I have changed the DNS settings) which has this plan:
Webspace: 2,500 MB
Data Transfer: 100 MB
eXtend Control Panel
Webalizer Graphical Statistics
FTP/SSH Access
But it doesn't say anything about MySql databases. And it is a different host so I would have to transfere everything including database.

Sorry about this long complicated post! I have limited knowledge about databases and so I'm really worried that I'll use up all that space and haven't planned ahead.

If you could give me some advice that would be great,
Thank you,
Abby

Does your web site explicitly use MySQL? If you didn't install any server-side software to your webhost (e.g. forum, blog), do not care about MySQL space. Wordpress and Coppermine are hosted solutions, they do not keep data in your MySQL.

Anyway, check your hosting help, if you have phpMyAdmin installed for your host, you can find out what consumes 1 of 10MB you have.

Honestly, you should get a basic shared account over at Dreamhost or Lunarpages. You won't have to deal with these petty limits and it'll actually cost a lot less than $20/month.
