For what you get...I don't see where that's expensive. Seems inline with the perks if you ask me.

If you're not looking to start a business, you don't need a box that powerful :D

You can get a Celeron 1.3Ghz, 1Gig RAM, dual 60Gig ATA100 drives, 500Gig/mo for around $130/mo. That's WAY more than plenty for 99% of sites on the Internet.

Doesn't seem that unreasonable to me. They even offer 'discounts' if you opt out of the ECC ram and what not.

Then, that's my perspective. ;) We're much higher. :) Heh.

Cheers.

Personally, I would go with the celeron for starters, hell that's what i used, and still use, asside from my dual xeon servers which i colocate, Unless your running some serious sites, with mysql and perl/php (i mean heavily), a celeron will be enough.

Yup, I maintain a site that gets 10,000 unique page views per day (vBulletin based site with PhotoPost, NetClassifieds, a 1024 max-user IRC server, and various other addons for the site) on a Celery 1.3Ghz, 1Gig, dual 60Gig IDE drives and it runs sweet.
