Oh that is so funny. I passed the URL around the office for a laugh. I found it amusing that someone in the thread also says rule of thumb is if its too good to be true, it usually is

Great minds think alike eh ;)

Musik - I just had a look at powweb and that looks like a pretty sweet deal to me, about £50 a year. Can you pay monthly or is it one of those deals where they advertise price per month then expect you to pay for the whole year in advance....

Naa have to pay for it straight up, but you do get 2 months free :D
There are some other good hosts for around the same price which long time members of Ozzu swear by which are listed in this section of the forum :D

Then sign up for an account and sue them......
Unlimited within the confines of the other limitations methinks

I actually only just got round to looking at that thread on the jc thing. Oh dear me.

I'm just about to write a big long email to ukhost, as their info is relatively sparse.

Thanks for the link suzie, I think I too will be signing up wth them now, as I don't wanna miss out on the google uk searches

i am also considering as my new site (wedding designs) is currently at http://www.members.aol.com/weddingdesig But it is now nearly finished and so i will need a host in the uk, and they seem pretty cheap and they also provide unlimited sumdomains which is what i need to host my customers sites on.

The 2 domain names plan looks tempting!

Just checking a couple of things:
1)whether the gig of space is shared between the multiple domains or each - shared as I thought, but no harm in trying!
(although they have just updated their site and you get double the bandwidth for the two domain one)

2)How much you have to pay for the backup (£10/yr) and the server uptime SLA. The answer to the latter was:
Quote:
there is a list of different SLA aggreements on the signup page

so I have to sign up to find out how much that is

3)Do you get .htaccess: yes

4)can I see a phpinfo page to see what php modules they have installed (no reply to that one - Suzie do me a favour and make a php info page for me when you get your site, and then gimme a link :D pweeese)

5)I just sent them another email asking if they do ssl cos there's no mention of it anywhere even though they do eComerce scripts :?

Ooh, bad move getting the credit card tony

i think that the thing that allows you to add php bla bla bla is called Fantastico, i have got it with my old domain (ghostorbsociety) and it is really good, i got a php image page where people can upload pictures etc.

and i also installed a forum with the click of a button.

http://www.yrhost.com/index_fantastico.php thats thelink so you can see a description of the things that it can install
