It's dependent really. If you feel that you're going to want to maintain that site for a while, then it's probably easier as a reseller, but if you just wnat to design and be done with it, it's easier to be an affiliate, although that woudl require communication between you and the host, rather then a 2 minute setup.

I think that most important thing when choosing a host for reselling is to choose one with High reputation.

Because what happens when you have 20 clients and your host just decides to close the business down.
You are stuck with 20 pissed of customers.

From reading differend boards I found out to be one of the biggest problems resellers experience.

As far as the money making I do not think that you can get rich with reselling hosting but if you are a web designer its a nice way to earn extra money and keep it simple for your web design clients.

Can anyone show me an example of a reseller hosting service that have been shotdown after generating some sales? Because i can not report an issue like that about for the last 3 years. I do not agree about it!

But i notice that some hosting services have been sold to another hosting services with their customers.

I do not give their name but last month one of the biggest reseller hosting service sold to the their biggest competitor including their workers&customers

I only report some small scams about web hosting at the Ebay which are really does not worth to count.

The real scam turn around the domain registeration not at the web hosting services.

Maybe old ones can remember the DotUsa scammers from the Uk. whom are collected over 2million$ from the pre-registerations of .usa, .casino , TLDs sales at the year of 2000.

I have seen quite a few posts on webhostingtalk forum about resellers that are looking for a new reseller hosting providers because their old hosting closed down or is having major problems.

I am sure that there is a lot of Good reseller hosting providers but just make sure you do your homework before choosing one.

You have more at stake then with just getting 1 hosting account for your personal site :)

I know whats really going on WHT very well !
But the case is Can you show me an example ? The name of the scammer hosting service ? or the name of the services that have been lost after generating some sales?

I've never seen for the last three years but as i said some personal scam have turned onthe Ebay only but they were not a service they were some unworthable personal actions.

You know why i am claiming very strictly that any web hosting services could not lost after generating some sales?
Because there are alot of other services that will jump for buying your customers, so why a service have to be shutdown while they were able to sell their customers to them?

I am sure if i spent few hours going thru all of the posts i could find something. But I do not have time for that.

So for sake of the argument I will accept your theory and say that all the bad hosting companies do endup being bought.

So would you really want to put your trust into company that is about to be bought because they could barely survive.

All I am saying is to double check every Reseller provider since you have more at stake then just loosing you own personal website :)

Yep I agree, if you are going to be dealing with a any company, large or small - find out something about them first - seach the internet for any user reviews (good or bad). Also get recomendations from people already doing the same thing - because if they do go bust - like someone said, its you that has to cough up the money to pay to get your customers hosted elsewhere, and that can cost a lot if you are reselling a lot of accounts.

you wont get rich from this alone, like he siad, but it is a good way to pick up some xtra cash, while maintaining another business, like designing websites, and then offering hosting(as a reseller) to go with the site.

Extra cash is always good :D I think alot of the success with reselling is finding the right niche for the visitors you are already getting.

Reseller better than affiliate program. At reseller, you'll have your own customers but at affiliate you can't have your own customer.

Agreed. For years we gave this revenue stream away. Plus I had to spend countless hours researching the right host for each site. Then our host pissed me off with a crash course in overselling and voila a new star was born.
