Does anyone know if a cron job could be set up to replace a file in a folder at a set interval?

Anything you can do from the command line, may be done automatically via cron.
It's merely a matter of scripting it.

Cheers.

if are doing something basic like replacing the file with a file name that uses the date or something similar, then you can put it in 1 command, no need for scripting. But the cron is what you want to use.

I tend to disagree.

If it is a repetitive task, why not create a called script? This way, edit and changes may be made on the fly without re-adjusting the crontab.

It doesn't hurt, and it gives you the opportunity to document (within the script) exactly what the intended purpose is.

IMHO.

Cheers.
