I had a domain name I bought through my old hosting company around a year ago (which was a mistake). It was supposed to expire like Januaray 22nd, but I still can't register it at a registrar. How long does it take to become fully available?

You should have had it transfered before that date - now it can take upto months to have it available again...

musik is right - this can turn into a nightmare...

However, track down the original registrar (not the reseller - ie your hosting company) and ask them for a link to their renewal page..

You should be able to enter the domain name - enter your credit card info and renew for a year (re-activating it ) - then transfer it away..

Hope this helps..

Usually you can find out who your registrar is from your hosting company. Also, when you renew the domain, you usually have to wait like 6 weeks before you can transfer the domain again. I think that is due to domain locking and updating the registration throughout the internet's millions of nameservers.
