I'm really not sure what I need...Information really...

**(If this is in the wrong topic, feel free to move it or delete it)**

I am running a server from my computer so people can play the game that I made. How would I go about putting that server on the internet? My problem is that I want to run the server 24/7, and I am only on my copmuter about 20/7 (lol). I just need a way to run my server without my PC being turned on.

Any help is extremely appreciated.

Can your pc be running while you are NOT on it?

Kinda hard to get those servers up and online while your computer isnt running.

BTW, I am curious, what game did you make?

Does the game run on Linux servers?

Basically, you're going to be looking at a Linux server so you can admin it remotely. This is how most of the UT2K4 and other dedicated servers are up and running 24/7.

There are exceptions, like the Halo dedicated server, which only runs on Windows (BIG mistake Micro$oft!), and it's difficult to get those remotely hosted, as not to many professional server leasing companies want to rent Windows boxes out, so they generally cost a lot more (aside from the fact that they have to pay for a Windows license for that server and pass that cost on to you as well, and they don't with a Linux server).

Never ceases to amaze me how many people will raise up a thread that died 14 months ago just so they can spam for their website.
