I would like to make a good pick on choosing a really good FTP program for updating my website. Until now with big hope I was using CuteFTP. I don’t know what you people think about this program, and I my self heard a lot of good things about it. My personal 1 year use experience is this is a program with most unstable connection and most unstable uploading function. Really, I think that the simple windows commander is much more stable in matters of FTP function than CuteFTP. Its not just flame, I been using CuteFTP for more than one year now, and I begin really hate this program. Please, please, can any suggest me a good stable program for FTP uploading?
Thanks a lot in advance.
p.s. please, don’t give me tips about CuteFTP, I won’t touch it again, ever.

Thanks meman,

I don’t know which program does what, but I am looking for a “intelligent” type FTP program. Here is what I mean: Let’s say I upload my website to public_html. Aside from website crated folders I have manually created a third party script folder for chat and another for forum inside same public_html. When I used FrontPage for uploading via HTTP it somehow new that those manually created folders weren’t created by FrontPage it self and never touched them. Somehow FrontPage figured out to exclude them. Or FrontPage used to just ask one time and never ask again. CuteFTP seems to be very idiotic, asking me about those folders and every single files inside those folders every time I do a website update [forum folder contains more than 500 files]. One time I even lost entire news directory because of such situation.

I am looking for an FTP program that give you the possibility to mark some server folders as “untouchable” and never touch or ask again about those folders.

I use Total Commander that also serves me as a file manager so I need only one piece of software to work with.

Can you teach it to not touch certain folders/files during synchronization session?

I did use smart ftp...but then the registration popup got too annoying so I switched to FileZilla. I also use FileZilla Server for my FTP Server...

I've used the free version of AceFTP for years and love it.
