Help setting up intranet domain

Hi, I'm totally new to hosting, yesterday I setup my first public webserver running apache 2 (should I have used 1.3?), and php4, and mysql. I want to make it so it can be viewed over the network be entering a name such as http://resourcehome/ for example. How would I do this in windows xp pro?

I think it has something to do with DNS but I don't really know beyond that. I'm sure this is well explained somewhere, if you could just link me to it that would be greatly appreceated. Thanks.
