1&1 hosting and another question

I was wondering what you guys thought of 1&1 hosting.

I signed up for it yesterday, the extremely low price attracted me to it. I like some of it, but there are a few things that bug me about it. Mainly in the control panel.

So my second question is, as a customer to a host company, is it possible for me to download plesk or cPanel and install it to use as my main control panel?

plesk or cPanel is tightly link to the server OS, unless you are on a dedicated server, which of course you can request the host to install a desired control panel for you for a fee.

Sorry to hear that you already signed up. There are many stories that you can search for that bring into question their billing and cancellation practices.

Why not, yeah, I think you'll be able to install that control panel you want and your hosting can help you with it.
