My website is hosted by Hostgator. I have a few large files on the remote server which I want to split into small pieces. I am wondering if there is any way to split it on the remote server? Or I have to download it to my PC and split it locally?

The "compress" available in cpanel does not compress a file into multiple parts.

Thanks.

Yes, split it locally & replace it on the server. You should already have it on your PC or somewhere as a backup.

No, I do not have a backup on my PC. The large files are downloaded directly to the remote server. I want to split them into smaller pieces and post them in my blog.

I hope there is a way to split files on the remote server.

Any hints?

What kind of files are we talking about?

If the server is running SSHD, then maybe you can do it. You should really think about a backup.
