Hi!

I have this major problem, I am trying to make one of my folder "maga" in mycurry.net have a seperate username and password. So that the username can allow the person who logs on to have access and EDIT all the files in the directory but they cannot access the main public_html file.

I emailed my host about doing this and they said they can't help and there is a way to do it in .htaccess, I don't understand how though. Can someone please Help?

I looked at the previous post in subdomains but that doesnt say how to create a password and username seperatly for the directory/folder I want.

Please get back to me ASAP

Depending on your Control Panel you should be able to create a subdomain and then create an ftp account for that subdomain so people can go through and edit the information in the folder.

I don't believe you can give rights to edit via .htaccess, only rights to read.
There is a tutorial here:

The best idea would be to use the suggestion above and make a sub-domain. You can then .htaccess the subdomain, as well as create a new FTP account to access only that subdomain. What control software does your hosting use??
