Hi everybody,

I was wondering if anybody can help me with this problem i'm having on forwarding ports. I read all about them. But when I forward the ports nothing works. My router i.p is 192.168.2.3, I enter that I.P and then,ok. I enter my I.P with the I.P number and port e.g: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080 and it says page cannot be displayed :(. So I went to http://localhost:8080/ and it works. I then connect directly to my adsl without a router it works but doesn't on the dam router! What i'm i doing wrong? Please can anybody help me with this problem? Plus this is the image of the Belkin router I have to show you that what i'm doing and if i'm doing something wrong. By the way my Belkin Is 2.4 GHZ, Model: F5D7231-4. If you want to see the image please go to http://www.photo-host.org/img/499065belkin.jpg

what do you mean by 'i enter that ip and then,ok.' ? where are you entering that ip? you should have to go into your router and tell it to forward all tcp traffic on port 80 to your private ip on port 80.
localhost is the same as 127.0.0.1, its not the same as your 192.whatever ip so thats why it would work with one and not the other.
the reason it works to connect it straight to your modem is that no port has to be forwarded. as long as its not firewalled on your computer when you hook it up directly to the modem, voila! it can be seen. and everyone with an internet connection has access to your pc :]
