You could make your own monitoring service, by just running an application on your home PC that pings your server every 30 minutes or whatever, yo could even integrate it with an SMS API service such as http://www.freebiesms.co.uk so that it can tell you via SMS as soon as the site goes down.

As long as you leave the PC on, it should work.

Check out http://www.youmonitor.us/ They run a global peer-to-peer network, service is free. You download a tiny script (php, jsp, asp, etc.) to your server and essentially everyone monitors each other.

Pretty awesome, for a site that's obviously in beta.
