I am running an ezine with a group of people and would like to let other people be able to upload stuff, etc.. help out with some of the online stuff.

Is there some magickal way to let people have access to parts without being able to change any details, etc...

I would think there would have to be some way to do it.

Hello lilstorm - there are no "silly questions" :)

Regarding your requirements - have you considered a CMS solution?

One of the more popular open source ones is Mambo - however, there are a plethora of others to choose from..

A CMS allows you to manage and structure your content as well as gives you the ability to grant permissions to users to certain areas and specific content...

If you merely want them to have upload capability without the ability to change anything you could simply create a subdirectory and grant them ftp access to it. Then you or whoever you wish to grant permission to can access the directory and data submitted.

Thank you both!

How would I create a subdirectory?

ftp into your account and click mkdir, create directory or whatever it's called in your ftp client. You can also do this from your control panel or ssh if you have access to either.
