Your registrar will most likely offer domain name pointer service; this is where you tell the domain registrar who your DNS providers are (you have to have at least 2).

Your hosting company offers DNS services, so you would put your hosting company's DNS servers in your registrar's configuration.

Such as:
Code: [ Select ]
Primary DNS: DNS1.<myhostingcompany>.com
Secondary DNS: DNS2.<myhostingcompany>.com
  1. Primary DNS: DNS1.<myhostingcompany>.com
  2. Secondary DNS: DNS2.<myhostingcompany>.com

If your intent is to host it yourself off of a home connection (bad idea) you still need to offer DNS services. Your choices are to host your own DNS server, and 'borrow', 'trade' or pay for external DNS hosting, that you can configure to point www -> your IP. (Or more to the point @-> your IP.)
