Hi,
I represent http://www.BetySolutions.com which is a small web hosting company.
I say that, because I don't want to be dishonest with you in any way.

Folks, can I ask you something? What are the most important features that you look for when you search for a web host? What do you like most about your current host?

I believe I need to know that in order to improve the service we offer.

Thanks.

Thanks a lot for the thread link, Unflux. Although some of the problems are self-evident, it takes an unpleasant lesson to get the others.

I was hoping that someone else will respond directly too.

truthfully it's the air of spam that rings in your post as to why
I won't be more helpful about this. Besides, I run my own
hosting company and I'm not giving my secrets away.

piece of advice:
Know exactly what you are doing. Make sure you understand the server your using, and know how to do basic and more advanced tasks with it. In particular, know how to reboot the server, how to install security updates (VERY IMPORTANT), how to install perl modules, etc. etc. It is very frustrating when dealing with a cluless host, so don't be a clueless host. Get a clue about what exactly it is your trying to do before you start your business.

If I were you I woudln't get involved in the hosting business. The marketing is simply too saturated. I know of like 5 people on this forum who offer hosting services, and that's just this forum. There are tens of thousands of webhosts out there, and in a market so saturated, you have to offer something special to be able to make any real money. I am paying $25 a YEAR for a hosting account which 3 years ago would have cost me $25 a MONTH. And it's great service too - they really know what they're doing. Youa re competing with guys like these.
