Hey guys, I am starting a new web host with a server and I have everything set up. I need some advice on the pricing and anything else you may have to offer. I am trying to make it where this host is for people just like me, who have a low budget and just need good, reliable hosting with support willing to help you. So far I have:

100 MB Space
10 GB Bandwidth
5 MYSQL DBs
25 Sub Domains
100 Email Accounts
$6.00/Month

250 MB Space
15 GB Bandwidth
10 MYSQL DBs
50 Sub Domains
250 Email Accounts
$8.00/Month

500 MB Space
20 GB Bandwidth
20 MYSQL DBs
100 Sub Domains
500 Email Accounts
$10.00/Month

1000 MB Space
30 GB Bandwidth
25 MYSQL DBs
250 Sub Domains
1000 Email Accounts
$12.00/Month

Thanks for any input, its really appreciated! Are the prices good you think?

Those seem like pretty good deals if the types of sites you host aren't high traffic sites looking to use a ton of bandwidth. If they are just average sites who need alot of services, sounds like a good deal.

If you are getting a good rate on your bandwidth from your upstream provider then those rates are very competetive and I think will get some business.

GOOD LUCK!!!

i agree, all good deals. The only thing I wouldn't care 1 bit about is the
# of mysql databases. Not really a selling point to me. The rest is, and
as jasontd pointed out is competitive with the rest of the market.

good luck with it.

Man... those are some pretty sweet deals IMHO.
I was paying $5.00/month per database at 1 point.....
....of course... that was stupid of me....

Cheap hosting is everywhere. It's a very competitive business. I'd target another market if I were just getting into it. Reseller hosting is always good - you are in essence getting other people to do marketing for you.

Or provide top notch support and call it premium hosting.

I do well with the quality hosting market - I make enough money with the clients who pay $50 a month that I can give it away for free to a bunch of my forum members and non-profits.

I'd just say this: the cheap hosting market is not profitable. Avoid it. Go after another market.

Thats good info to know. I am eventually planning on opening trhosting.com and polarhost.com but hadn't really decided what market I would go in. I was thinking trihosting.com would be focussed on dedicated server hosting and polarhosting more on virtual server hosting. I was never too fond of the cheap hosting, because it just doesn't seem to add up very quickly. Plus I would rather get people to host with me because of the great service and support rather then only hosting with me for the price.

Dedicated hosting means you get an entire server to yourself. Virtual hosting is where you are on a shared server with many other people.
