Depends on the type of mailing list system? How many emails to manage? It really depends on the software. Some software is dangerous depending on the amount of emails. You could flood or even crash the server if the ports are being opened too many times. Uses alot of resources.

What are your hosting requirements?

i am looking at a system that can take at least 200 subscribers. the bandwidth and diskspace for hosting isn't a problem it can always be paid for.

200 emails shouldnt be a problem at all really. Have you seen any free scripts online etc... ? I would look at php type of mailing lists but this obviously depends on the type of hosting you are after.

Will it be windows or linux?

phplist is a great system if your host supports php & mysql. you can get people to subscribe from your home page and has tracking, subscribe/unsubscribe, WYSISWYG editor.

Has anybody been using phplist, or others hosts. I am thinking of starting a mailing list, just not sure what is best.

Thanks, I loaded it last week, seems pretty easy to use. I have sent out a few test emails with a small group, and worked great.

I would probably enjoy it more if some of you joined:) Updates on new road rage polls. Here is a link: http://www.monkeymeter.com/maillist.php
