I own domain1.com, and I've recently bought a new domain - domain2.com

I have created a second site with the directory domain1.com/domain2

I would like to be able to go to domain2.com, see the new site.

I would also like to have the URL remain as domain2.com as I navigate the new site.
So when I go to domain2.com/abc I don't want to see domain1.com/domain2/abc, it should remain as domain2.com/abc

The hosting company set something up with frames, but that's horrible.

I've pointed the 2nd DNS to the same as the first, and added it as an addon domain in cPanel. From what I can tell, I'd like a "parked domain", as cPanel puts it, but to a subfolder rather than the root directory.

Is this possible to do with a htaccess file? Do I need to contact my hosting company to get them to do something (aside from frames)?

RewriteEngine On

# Forward www to without
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^domain1\.com$
RewriteRule (.*) http://domain1.com/$1 [R=301,L]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} domain2\.com
RewriteRule ^http://domain1.com/domain2$ http://domain2.com/$1 [R=301,L]

I've had a decent go, but it doesn't work. It went into a loop at one point.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Is it possible without frames?
