I got ZenCart (MySQL and PHP app) running on GoDaddy. It is too slow. So I signed up for a trial at HostGator.

Before I migrate my ZenCart store to HostGator (which is a big project), I want to test the speed of HostGator running MySQL and PHP apps. I don't want to migrate and find that it is just as slow as GoDaddy.

What app can I upload to HostGator to perform this performance test?

Do you think it's slow due to their hardware or due to their bandwidth? http://www.bandwidthplace.com is one of many web sites that will test the bandwidth.

The bottleneck is in the MySQL and PHP serving up pages, I believe.

Will the hosting company move your site to a different server if you request it?

Some will. And if they do, it is only for simply scripts. Not sure if they will move a ZenCart eCommerce shop though. I'm thinking not, because it involves reconfiguration of MySQL database, ZenCart config files, export and import of customer information, etc.

Then I don't know how you can determine if it's their hardware that's causing the problem.
