I've successfully imported the SQL file into the remote phpMyAdmin. Now that I uploaded the rigistration.php into my remote server for it to display /published.

But the registration.php which contains server behaviours, couldn't display in the browser. eg.www.mysite.com/registration
it displays an error message :

***
Warning: mysql_pconnect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/usr/local/mysql-5.0/data/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/content/g/e/o/georgeleow/html/Connections/connlog.php on line 9

Fatal error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/usr/local/mysql-5.0/data/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/content/g/e/o/georgeleow/html/Connections/connlog.php on line 9
***

The host replies with :

**
Thank you for contacting Online Support. It appears you are either making an improper connection (such as to local host, databases are stored on separate servers than your hosting) or you are making a remote connection; which we do not allow on shared hosting.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide support beyond the basic setup of your database. If you need help configuring or connecting please refer to the Database Section of our HelpCenter.

I thought getting a local phpMyAdmin ,export and import it into the remote server will solve the problem.

Might it be " connection strings " ?

Thank you very much ,

and to those who have read this. Thanks. Any help is my Gratitude.

Hi George,

This is what you are using now,

$hostname_connlog = "localhost";
$database_connlog = "reg";
$username_connlog = "root";
$password_connlog = "";

Use this instead,

$hostname_connlog = "p50mysql55.secureserver.net";
$database_connlog = "George_L";
$username_connlog = "George_L";
$password_connlog = "password";

Let me know if you have any more issues with this.

I have connected to the host now,justnow was just server down.I guess.I have some more questions :
=====
This is what you are using now,

/* if you didn't set up your own username
** and your local testing server DB name which can be different with your host DB name **/

$hostname_connlog = "localhost";
$database_connlog = "localDBname";
$username_connlog = "root";
$password_connlog = "";

Use this instead,

/* refer above, I changed it here only, due to security issue */

$hostname_connlog = "pxxxxxxxxxxxxx";
$database_connlog = "yourDBname";
$username_connlog = "yourname";
$password_connlog = "Yourpassword";

====
Alicia, or if anyone who's reading this, Do I just insert it right into the ,MySQL connection where I connect to database -

from dreamweaver? I can just edit it? Cuz I don't have a password for the phpMyAdmin-local. I installed a WAMP, and

now using the default username ,no-password. Am I required to get a password ? and I now know that my username

in my local MySQL has to match my remote MySQL ,right ? Will I also be able to change the default username which is root. ? to George_L?

I understand I'm able to change my remote mysql username to root , and database name to reg , in order for it to work,right? the other way round will do right?

Can you also give some guidelines on how can I set a password to an existing database already in my local MySQL , ? and a username. as well.

I've tried inserting the above into my existing MySQL connection which is from dreamweaver ,by just editing,and replacing with
===
/* refer above, I changed it here only, due to security issue */

$hostname_connlog = "pxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx";
$database_connlog = "DBname";
$username_connlog = "Yourname";
$password_connlog = "password";
===
I sense something not right of what I'm doing. Where can i view my connection strings.? I've come across this words a dozen times now.I don't get access to MySQL command line client, is that an issue ?

please help. any help is highly , appreciated and is my gratitude.

thank you very much !
George L.

I'm happy to help George!

Access your ftp via, ftp://208.109.181.52/Connections/.
After you login with your ftp username and password, you will see two files: connlog.php.new and connlog.php.

Right click to rename connlog.php to connlog.php.old and right click connlog.php.new and rename to connlog.php. This will fix your issue. To compare the differences between the two, open them in notepad, making sure to save them to your desktop first.

Here are some MySQL help articles that you may find helpful as well.

Is mySQL accepting connections on localhost? Perhaps you have it configured to listen on your public IP address and not localhost.

Try connecting to your mySQL server from the command line using mysql -u username -p first and see what errors that is giving you.

Alicia R.

I'm having the same problem with my Dreamweaver connection and Go Daddy ! hosting. What changes did you make to the connection script with George L. to get it to work?

Go Daddy! support told me they do not support remote MySQL connections such as Dreamweaver uses.

Thanks!
