Hi, I'm planning to set up a web server using Ubuntu server edition for a small organization and wanna setup email for them.

Just wonder if there's a good Microsoft Exchange alternative? So the members can check email using an email client while in office and web browser from wherever they are.

Thanks.

There are a ton of email programs like MS Exchange for linux. I just can't think of the name of the one I wanted to tell you.

Argh, I can't remember the name. But there is one out there. I think it's Evolution, not sure. I haven't used Linux in a while.

Bryce, I know there're quite a few MS Exchange for Linux out there, but they require Red Hat? I want one that is compatible with Ubuntu Server

Moreover, I'm a novice so I need some recommendations :)

Linux is Linux, if it runs on RH you can get it to run on Ubuntu.

Anyhow, this link should help.

Oh yeah, Evolution is an email client not a server.

Theak, what I need is more than just a server, I think.

The page you redirect me to is setting up an email server; it's just like having your own mail service instead of using Yahoo! Gmail etc...

What I need is something like an MS Exchange server; which I can check mails with Outlook on my computer, access my mailbox wherever I go...

What I say so far can be done with the scripts your URL introduced, but probably not the following.

What exactly I really want is that my Outloook (client) can SYNC to my server simultaneously.

eg If I made a reminder in Outlook (desktop) my other team members (if they're travelling) will know it by accessing our web server......

Zimbra is a good one as well as Open Exchange. Both have community versions.
