You have your own private environment with "root" control. Cheaper than a dedicated server but still yields 80% the power as one (depends on the type of VPS package). Dedicated servers are more costly but have the physical power to run the most intensive websites. As the owner of a dedicated server you are a full 'root' administrator that can set any options as you please. Even if you aren't familiar with tweaking the server your host will more than likely do it for you.

Regards!

VPS & Shared Hosting are to Dedicated Hosting
as

As far as SEO is concerned location of hosting server is important for ranking also if your site is UK based and you are hosted in US then you may face connectivity speed.

Generally VPS are cheaper then that of Dedicated hosting.
If you are not much into hosting and don't know about server management and installation better go with Managed Dedicated Hosting.

Please let me know your requirements so that i can help you better, we are UK based hosting service provider with our servers located at Blue Square datacenter, Maidenhead (London).

Dedicated hosting is usually more expensive than VPS. I just want to point out that choosin location (datacenter) is very important. Lets just say you are located in Frankfurt, Germany, and all of your potential clients are in the same location, you might as well get a local provider if they are stable and provide good service, as the connection speeds will be quicker for you and your potential customers.

If you go for VPS check to see which software it uses for it's interface. Most use cpanel, but I once took out a VPS plan and it came with webmin and it was very difficult for me and a webmaster friend to use. In the end I had to buy a cpanel license.

If you are at low budget then you can opt for VPS where you can host 100's of sites and have root access.
Before signing up you should always check for support and whether your VPS is managed by your host, try to get a host who will manage your VPS and check for the number VPS account on each node, if your host is having large number of accounts on a single node then your VPS may face problems.
There should not be more then 15 VPS on a single node.

A properly configured VPS with enough dedicated RAM can provide excellent performance for your site at a relatively small sum of money. Mind the type of Cpanel you are aiming at when choosing a VPS plan.

I never heard of H-Sphere and Cpanel is widely used among web servers... I'd say Cpanel. The latest version would be Cpanel X 9.0 I believe...

cPanel and Hsphere are widely used.

I would recommend hsphere. It is more expensive at begging, but if you looking in long terms, it pays off.

Major advantage of VPS is it's low price. You can get a slice of a server at a fraction of dedicated server's price. If you don't need a full dedicated server, then a VPS is a good option for you.

Why? Cpanel seems to have more features, its definite disadvantage is the amount of CPU it takes. The minimal amount of CPU is 512MB RAM.
My personal recommendations for VPS plans are ServerPoint.com, VPSLand.com and Eurovps.com.
