Hi guys,
Just wondering, how did you come across your web host? On what criteria was your selection based?

I used to look for a good price, and i used to test the support service with a fake question or other general email just to see their reaction times etc. I try not to judge a book by its cover but a good site also goes a long way.

A couple things:

1. Price - Amazing price for the features.
2. Features - More features then I could ask for. EVERYTHING I ever wanted.
3. Uptime - 99.9% Uptime Guarantee with a Proven Track Record
4. Refund for ANY reason if you want.
5. Tech Support - 24/7 Tech support from chat, e-mail and phone.
6. Intangibles - Does all the little things right.

That's the basics.

I'm with Moses08.....the uptime guarantee should be at least 99.9% on a good host. I have been running my site for 6 months now without any downtime!!!

good list. I just want to add this: if the prices are like amazingly/rediculously low, its probably a ripoff, the company could be overselling (telling you that you will get something that they don't have)

so be careful

That was a good way of judging.

Hi well im with stuckforhosting. i chose them because there support was excellent, and also that there price for the amount of fetures is great, oh and finally because it looks trustworthy

But what i usually look for is a hosting company with great support
99.9% uptime
Cheap with lots of fetures and cpanel with fantastico

I editted 3 posts here to remove blatant self promotion. This has really got to stop...

There is a lot of self-promotion in these forums. Maybe a solution would be a forum for offering your services?

signature links are enough to promote your self if you are a helpful, friendly
poster around the forums. but posting a link to your own site in every
post (especially in the hosting forum) is more than annoying any more. The
hosting forum in particular is just littered with it.

Most of us are here to help others...not offer their services to anyone who
will listen. We used to have a board for people to post their biz and
projects etc, and you know what it became? a spamfest, which is why are
so strict with this rule.

I was careful in choosing mine, and that's defently paid off.

I found a nice, fast sever close-by physically from a local business that has fantastic support. If there's a problem, I know they're merely a phone call away.

I pay $15 per month for 50mb space, but for the reliability, it's well worth it. I pay for support.

Never looked back.

We were motivated to forming our own hosting company by a greedy host that oversold our boxes, and was too cheap to put more than 256MB Ram in it until the damn thing was crawling. I'm omitting my signature to dispell the preception of advertisng by responding in this thread.

I pay only 3 bucks per month for 100 mb web space. that was how i tested my current one.

they turned out to be very responsive to my emails and very professional. very very reliable company.
normally, I get a response to my email within the hour.

impressive eh? heheh/. never looked back then...
