Yes , there are lot of difference between MySQL and MS SQL.

MySQL is a free version and MS SQL is a paid one and there are lots more difference you can find like I believe MSSQL is like ~$1,000 or so? MySQL = free.

MSSQL is a little more powerfull database server, but it does cost money.

MySQL beats the *plum* out of MSSQL, but MSSQL is more secure.

If you're the type to get on the phone with tech support, then you may actually prefer MS SQL option... that's the kind of thing you're paying for.

Uhm, no.

MySQl can be just as secure as any commercial database product; it's about the connections which may be encrypted or may not be. What often makes MySQL a problem is the implementor.

MySQL can be powerful, and is approaching enterprise, however postgres is already there, but less powerful. Both are open source.

I would hardly call MS SQL secure by any stretch of the imagination.

Launch in March 2007? Wow, thats a long time! Any reason you're holding back the release date for so long?

I have a lot to learn and get ready, and I am busy with quite a few other projects. Also my domain is hosted with n1netsolutions and I'm not sure how to transfer it. It expires in March so i figured it would be easier just to transfer it through reregistration.

March will come rather quickly and the more emails on the mailing list the faster I get things done (because I use that to measure the potential success of the project). I'm still on planning stage and havent started building anything except the mailing list page yet.

Advanced accounts already get up to 3 domains, and pro accounts 12. Should I add more?

Also I started on a new website design which even the cynical people I know thought was good. Should have it uploaded some time this weekend.

I would probably do something like this for storage space:
-Noob 50MB storage space, Basic 150 MB, Advanced 1000 MB, Pro 10000 MB

That should offer enough to get them started, allowing room for a few images in there.

Also, can you limit the number of MySQL databases that someone can have? Like offer 1 for Noob, 5 for Basic, 15 for Advanced, and 25 for Pro or soemthing like that. It isn't necessary but it is a nice feature to keep the databases for different projects seperated.
