THe only simple way in my mind to have two servers on one IP is to use different ports. There is a lot you can do but, I'm in no position to explain the technicalities of trying to set up distributed processing or anything.

Well. I wouldnt have to chance DNS stuff because both machiens would connect to the internet with the same IP address get me. THere would be 2 comps with 1 ip outside the network.. So i was asking. WHat would happen if you run 2 web servers on computer hooked in a network that sahre a single IP?

Pretty much.. im asking how do you expand a server or a series of servers (datacenter). I just wana learn this you know. im very interested i wana learn as much as I can. Because right now I have a single static IP connected to a router.. each come is 192.168.1..2.3.4 and so forth but still use same WAN IP. Say if i set up a web server on 1 comp also running an FTP server. What if i needed to expand. needed another computer running the web computer.. Can you just create a network shortcut in the root folder of the first web server to the second.. In other works how do you expand a network.. add computer or make it bigger.

There's a lot of ways to do this. What exactly do you intend to do or want to learn how to do?

I dont really understand the concept of a "datacenter" you know. Is it necessary to have more than 1 web server running a single domain. Like ebay. I understand ebay is huge but how would they do this? Are they just running a large web server or multiple computers. If so.. How does that work. I can understand how you can point a single DNS erver to multiple IPs but how would that work in a webpage sence? Say 2 web servers are responcible to ebay.com.. each with their own IP/internet connection. Even if their DNS was pointed to both their web servers how would they set it up to appear as 1 web site. I can understand how you can have like 1 comp as a web server 1 as FTP server and one as DNS server. But how could you have 2 web servers on 1 ip or running the same site
