Hello people,

I got a quite irritating problem with my domain I bought a few days ago. I bought it at Register.be and paid with a bank transfer. A few days later I received a mail the domain was registered succesfully. And indeed, when I did go both to leandor.com or http://www.leandor.com I got a page saying "The domain is registered by a first dependant in Belgium.".

But after I changed the redirection link to my site, the problem rised up. When you try to go to http://www.leandor.com everything works perfect. But when you cut out the www, like many people do (http://leandor.com) you get a 404 error with Internet Explorer and an "Object Moved" http error with Firefox.

I first thought this was something with my own site, so I tried to redirect my domain to some other sites (even google.com), but the problem kept showing no matter which site it was redirected too.

Now my question is, can I solve this somehow?

Thanks in advance,

In your domain management you need to set up an A record for leandor.com

Here's one example of how it's done with H-sphere
http://jodohost.com/reseller/html/dns_records.html

How it's done varies, depending on what they are using. If you can't find it in their help or knowledge base, check with their tech support for instructions.

Hello,

OK, im not sure what you mean by redirecting your domain.

However, log into your registrar account and point your nameservers to your hosting companies name servers...

Then, if your hosting company has everything configured properly, this should just work...

Typically, the http://domainname.com will work by default and the host should have a server alias defined to accomodate http://www.domainname.com. If they dont have this configured by default, there should be a location in your hosting control panel where you can add it.

Hope this helps...

Man o man.

Gone are the days where you just added;
@ IN A <ip>
and ran rndc. :)

Sigh.

I would certainly hope the domain itself is referenced to the IP and the www is cnamed.

Hmmm, quite hard to understand. The problem is I don't got any experience with domain management. Maybe if I show you guys a few screenshots of the admin center you can explain more detailed how I can set one up.

At the admin center there's a box called "Nameservers / Subdomains", you guys probably mean that. This is a screenshot of it:

Offline

When I click on Configuration(Configuratie), I get this:

Offline

Then, when I click on Edit(Wijzig) at the configuration I get this:

Offline

Or, if I click on New(Nieuw) at the configuration, I get this:

Offline

Can someone, with the help of this screenshots, help me out?

Thanks in advance,

Found another thing that could be it.

I tried out some with the help of the explanation you guys gave me so far, but I didn't find it yet. Can someone help me please?

Edit: It seems that I can only change the A record or C name, instead of adding one. Does this means I just bought from an amazingly bad service?

Edit II: A friend says he can't view the images, but I can see them with Firefox and IE. Someone else also got the problem?
