Worst hosting ever; data hostage - Host1Plus

Hi all,

I just have to share this with everybody and hopefully nobody else has to suffer this insanity of host1plus.

First of all on the website you can see they pretend to HAVE a data centre in the US. Well I choose them as hosting because they have multiple servers all over the world and I was planning to mirror my website on those different servers for better service to my customers.

Since I've been with them the hosting went from average to worse.. A lot of smaller periods of downtime, very slow Mysql etc.. Then last week 10 hours of 'down time'. Server wasn't really offline but refused to serve any php pages. This took them just over 10 hours to fix. Then following week again a lot of smaller down time periods and slow and unstable Mysql server.

Now my website has been offline for MORE then 48 hours, I have been complaining from the first hour my website went offline and they kept telling me (until like 10 hours ago) yeah we will have it fixed in few hours.

Now they came with this explanation:
'Due some circumstances we have faced total network failure in the US DC. Our server is completely disconnected and datacenter refused to provide backup data. We are still negotiating with DC to get all data backup'

Which leads me to believe 2 things:
- they don't have a data centre in the US AT ALL. They just outsource and have access to some servers
- They didn't pay fees or something similar and now the owner of the data centre has taken all data on the server hostage until they pay.

I really need access to my database. I'm loosing income every hour and more important loosing customers and possibly my nr. 1 spot in Google search on my keywords.

I have no idea what I can do.. if anybody has tips for me I highly appreciate them.

And an maybe a bit obvious but NEVER EVER put your website on host1plus hosting.

I am sorry to hear you have lost incoming and customers.Whenever you choosing a hosting,you'd better clearly know some important factors,stability,laster hardware of configuration server,weekly backups,refund policy etc.Search and check it ,find some reviews of the hosting will do you a lot of help.

it was a fairly new hosting and I did check reviews I saw some good ones but I highly suspect all reviews I've seen were created by their staff as on one other forum I posted this someone of their staff reacted as 'normal' user and tried down talking the issue.

They do offer back-ups and I also had them but they can't access them. I've already found a new hoster, and hopefully a better one this time, now I just need my data back..

more then a month later and still nothing..

After contacting support they said (quote); 'your data is lost'

On their support forum posted by employee of Host1Plus they say (quote) 'Yes we will recover previous mustang server in three weeks time'.

They are HUGE liers and can not be trusted. Furthermore they banned me from their forum without any reason because they don't want me to post the facts.

I'm going to make it my personal mission to warn everybody about this company and every serious webmaster should NOT host his/her website there.

oh ps. another reason not to host there; they allow spammers UK server is officially blacklisted by 2 major spamlists

Thanks for the information. I never tried this hosting. I am a great fan of host gator web hosting package. They provide unlimited disk space , bandwidth etc.Their customer support is also very good.
