back when i had my own dedicated i ran my own dns, but now im running virtual servers...

I play with it some times. From my home pc setup as a server. Right now I am using zoneedit.com for dns but I run the servers from my home. I am trying to get a dns of my own setup. I think I had it working before but I used some software that made it easy. I am trying again because I am tired of zoneedit being down and that. Any help? Or links to were to learn how to run one?
