Hi all, I decided to join Ozzu to make a post in the hardware forum (do'h).

I am a 20yr old student from Melbourne Australia and I host my own website, and have made some basic html websites for people that I administer.

Ive seen this forum a bit and I hope I can use it to improve my bad habits in coding, and maybe learn other random/usful things :)

Hi everybody
I am very much a new boy. I have used VFP and ABAP/4 for years. Now I want to stop being an "on the road" SAp Data Warehousing consultant and begin to build Web sites.

The first one is for my wife who is starting a web based clothes "catalogue". To start with this I bought from Sitecom a book called "build your own web site the right way". It is great. First site up in two days ... ok it is not finished but it is there!

I have a number of challenges facing me.

The site must be multiplingual. I want to find a wut ay of having one set of pages with "insertable" text in the approptiate language. From a database?

So far I have used Notepad, Frontpage and Nvu. The second tzo want to take over, and the first is laborious. I have downloaded NoteTab Lite and I am going to look at that next. Any suggestions?

Publication seems to be a nightmare for me ... even zith FileZilla. At prsent my site is upm but without pictures. yet they are present on the server.

Anyway ... onward and upward as the saying goes.

Regards ... and hello again

John

Hey.. I'm a freelance web developer from Barrie, Ontario, Canada. I write regularly on my blog, The Future of the Web (http://www.thefutureoftheweb.com/).

My specialities are JavaScript, CSS, HTML, web standards, accessibility and SEO. I also do a lot of PHP, Ruby on Rails and MySQL. I'm trying to get better at web design...but it's definitely not as easy to master as a new programming language.

Hello everyone..

I'm Brad, 17, Canadian.. I've been designing sites for about four years but I am sort of new to the whole, webmaster scene, having previously just designed sites for clients, or just simple interest sites hosted on free servers.

Looking forward to learning with all of you guys! I'm going into university next year for a Bachelor of Commerce with a dual major in Business and Computer Science.

See you on the boards :D

Hi, I'm Miriya. I'm 23, and enjoy music, writing, video games ... the usual, really. I work as a waitress, as well as a hotel desk clerk, the second of which provides ample opportunity to work on my favorite hobby, web design.

I started out on the internets in High School, when my new computer came loaded with Trellix. (Those were the days, ha.) My first site went live early 2001, and I've been around ever since.

I'd like to think that I've improved a lot since those days (it's pretty hard not to), but I'm well aware that I've got a lot to learn. I've got a pretty good nose for figuring out how to cater to my particular audience, but I'll admit that the mysteries of SEO are far beyond me.

I build websites for personal enjoyment, and everything I know I've learned myself. I handcode everything; I've been to classes that demanded dreamweaver, but I've never really used it, and I've never really had a need for it, despite the obvious benefits. I've got html and css down, and have recently turned to php.

As far as content goes, I wonder if I'm not a little out-of-place here, but I hope you're okay with me tagging along for discussion and whatnot. My current project is making some progress: I'm re-releasing a graphics site shortly that will encompass free templates as well as photoshop brushes and other graphic resources.

As far as web design goes, it's a fascinating thing to me, and one day when I have the necessary skills, I'd like to freelance or join/start my own design company.

I hope to learn and share a lot with this community. Thanks for taking the time to read!

Thanks for the welcome, Mr. Super-Mod. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed; so many people around here have these really nicely designed, professional-looking sites, and very different from the kind of stuff I'm used to working with. :3

Hi Guys,
I am half a century old ths year and like to work on my computer and manage my website. My claims to fame are many. I have met and shook hands with the Queen. I have frisked Dustin Hoffman. But my major claim to fame is when my website was featured on the BBC, my server almost had meltdown. My website is a labor of love and gets millions of hits each month.

I would like to clarify the fact that when I have my computer out I am working and not as my good lady says 'playing'.

From the UK, I have a working knowledge of php and html, and am just learning the delights of css.

Glad to meet you all

Ooh, internet: serious business. :D Welcome to the site!

I carded Motley Crue once when I was working as a cashier of Albertson's, and kicked Goldburg out of my restaurant.

By the way, we never caught it: what was your website? You've definitely got my curiousity piqued.
