I am having some trouble with my FTP server. My ISP blocks all ports from 20-1024. I am able to use any other port. I have a 4 port belkin router. I have setup my computer for DMZ. I am not sure what port i am allowed to assign to my FTP server. Any Suggestions?

Any other information I will gladly provide.

if you have set ur network ip in the DMZ, then you shouldn't need to open any ports.

I have never had any problems with FTP programs.
but ftp programs normally only use port 21, or port 80

since my Cable service blocks all incoming ports from 20 through 1024. I have to use Port Forwarding on my router. I know that i will have to use an UNASSIGNED PORT. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any Unassigned ports.

From this link:

http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers

Quote:
The Dynamic and/or Private Ports are those from 49152 through 65535

I normally use something up in the 50,000's

Thx DuckIT! That is exactly what i needed. I can now master the ports! Every day i learn something new. Every port number available. I was attempting to use port 14200 but i have encounted a new error. I do believe that this has something to do with user permissions. I am using Microsoft windows XP Professional and WS_FTP server ver 4.0. I have created the user in the WS_FTP application. do i also have to have a user created in my Windows Users? Sorry, i dont mean to sound redundant about questions.
