I bought a new pc recently and, rather than reloading all my applications, I thought I'd just try and swap the existing HDD into the new pc.
Disaster. That HDD now shows it needs windows activating. I opted to try and do this by phone but there is no information in the "now let's activate windows" box.
There should be a whole list (I think 50 numbers) which I tell the Microsoft person and they give me an activation code.
I tried explaining but Microsoft's customer advisers genuinely don't seem to know what to do. Reboot is no good.

Trying online activation just hangs. I press the "next" button and nothing happens.
I have 2 days left to sort this.
Help, please.

The HAL's between the two systems are probably different which causes Windows to think it is a "new" installation. The only thing I can think of trying is doing a repair install of Windows
