I am running Windows Server 2003 Small business server.
I guess by default you are allowed to have 2 remote users
on at one time. Is it possible to up this number or buy
additional licenses?? I need to let about 5 people on
this server.

Thanks,

Stufine

Well, you normally need to speak to Microsoft and pay for a Terminal Services licences. But I must admit I havent tried it with any flavour of SBS. You need to speak to MS and aquire a 5 user TS licence.

The below is from our how-to database for TS licencing. Bare in mind though that this is for Windows 2000 Server Standard Edition so some of all may be different, but it should hopefully give you an idea of the steps needed! Microsoft's licencing department can also usually talk you through it. Also the phone number is a UK number. If you live elsewhere in the world you need the correct Microsoft number.

Also, providing you can get the above licence packs, you can normally set the server up now on a 30 day 'trial' this means as long as you licence the server within 30 days it will be fine. To install it I believe you need to add & removing programs from control panel. Then choose Windows components. Tick Terminal Server & Terminal Server Licencing in the list, then click next or ok.

As I say, you'd be wise to check with MS before proceding though!

=================================================

Install Terminal Services Licencing.
Go into Terminal Services licencing. Right click on server name & choose activate.
Choose your licence type.
Fill out company details.
Server is now activated.
Leave tick box ticked for 'add licence packs now'
Now you need to add any licence packs purchased.
Fill out detaails in the boxes.

Hit next and this should licence the server.

For problems the Terminal Services activation department can be reached on 0870 606 1517. You will almost certainly need to call Microsoft if you are changing licence servers and attempting to re-licence the new server.
