Post 3+ Months Ago

I'm new to this forum. After some reading in an couple of threads I ended up in this one. I'm amazed about that no one has mentioned Avast!Home Edition as anti-virus solution. I'm using it since version 3. Since about a year I believe they've released version 4. It's a major upgrade. One of the best features is the iAVS-automatic update. Of course, the other av-scanners have the same feature. But Avast releases updates at least weekly and every day (sometimes more than once a day) in case of a new harmful virus.

The best is that it checks for updates whenever you're on the internet! :?
But, even better is its performance in detecting viruses. Several tests have shown that it detects all the 'in the wild' viruses. Combined with an up to date signature database protects me from viruses.

BTW, as firewall I use Outpost Firewall. I use the free 1.0 version. If you want to stay up to date, I guess it's better to use ZoneAlarm. But hey, I have a dial-up connection. So an "old" firewall is good enough for me.
