Hi all,
Windows sometimes reports that AVG is off, whereas AVG says it is all ok and running. See Image:

Is this windows just playing weird or is there something more? I shouldn't have any common spyware as I regularly do AVG, windows defender, Spybot and Ad-aware scans. These have all been updated and the last scan was a few days ago.
My PC has been a bit slow, but it has gone through a year of collecting rubbish i put on it, could do with a reformat i guess, i was thinking of going through MSConfig and disabling things that seem pointless in start ups.
My Hijack this log is as follows (my default browser is FF 3.* btw not IE8):

I did attempt going through my processes the other day- through task manager, found csrss.exe which i couldn't see the location of (whereas every other file i could) and didn't have a user got suspicious looked it up, found http://www.liutilities.com/products/win ... ary/csrss/ and thought i had a trojan, to discover this is it's natural behaviour. I think i'll let the experts deal with it.
Thanks for your help

I did attempt going through my processes the other day- through task manager, found csrss.exe which i couldn't see the location of (whereas every other file i could) and didn't have a user got suspicious looked it up, found http://www.liutilities.com/products/win ... ary/csrss/ and thought i had a trojan, to discover this is it's natural behaviour. I think i'll let the experts deal with it.
Thanks for your help

I believe I had this problem with Vista and AVG. And I fixed it one of two ways.
First, make sure you have the latest version of AVG. Could be an AVG bug that is fixed in the most recent version.
If not, then simply open up the security center by clicking on that balloon, and choose the "I have an antivirus solution that I'll monitor myself." so that Windows won't bug you about it since you know it's running.
This isn't even worth mentioning since I see you are quite computer-literate (wamp, tortoisesvn... and you're using a vaio), but make sure you have all the components in AVG running.
Good luck.

Yeah I know a bit about computers, nowhere near an expert though
. All components are active according to the AVG control panel.
Brilliant ok thanks, think it's just windows being funny. Just thought it was a bit strange and that i should get it checked out.
Thanks
On a side note, but i don't think it is software i've installed related, I have been having some problems with the graphics lately (5 crashes in the last 7 days)- keeps crashing and then not displaying correctly- low graphics mode with added pink confusion lines ha.
I usually boot into Ubuntu as i don't get on with windows low graphics mode in that state, and it fixes itself after a day or so. Not sure how long it will keep up though.
I'm guessing this is a bug (with the driver?) or something telling me my hardware is starting to go. The driver has been updated after the second time it happened but didn't fix it. Not sure what else i can do apart from start backing up files and look for a new laptop in case it does go fully.
