Hi Everyone . .

I have a Windows 7 Toshiba laptop. All of a sudden my backlit keyboard is not working. No back lights. I need it to type where my computer is located in the evenings.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance! I am so low tech! Or so dumb, not sure which. :D

could be that the fuse has gone for the lights, you may need to get a replacement keyboard. Unless the lights are under it which then it would be replacing the back lights. Either way i would suggest you take it to a tech guy if you are unsure, it is hardware issue either way.

I was afraid of that. Thank you. I hoped my friend had hit some key by accident when she piled things on my keyboard.

Rats!

Thank you though,

that sounds like the board was damaged, may of been crushed or damage something important. should avoid heavy objects on keys :)

If you got a tech friend, have them order you the keyboard and swap it around and you may be able to get a mates rates fix. Or just take it to a computer shop and they mite be able to replace for $100-150 tops with install.

.......just thinking 3rd option you can order usb night light to attach to the laptop :)

Or maybe it's just a setting and you accidentally turned it off...

Toshibas have some sort of an Eco mode it appears. Read the posts in here

There are several suggestions, but it's most likely a function key or something to toggle to re-enable it.

Any keyboard that lights up, usually has a button with a light globe on it. if someone has taken a serious look i am sure it can be found.
