BATCH ERROR!!! PLEASE HELP ME FIX IT. I NEED BATCH FILES!

Alright I am having an issue of all issues, I can't run .bat files, it comes up with this error:
this program is currently in use.
I also can't open the taskmanager to see what .bat is running.

Im using Windows 2000 SP4.
Please help me out, this needs to be fixed so I can finish my school project.

Run tasklist from a command prompt to view running processes. What did you put in the .bat file?

I didnt make the .bat file it must be one of the programs that came with the PC...
and I looked for tasklist.exe through the search function and it found nothing. Unless you meant just type it in and execute it anyway.

Start, run, type cmd and press enter. When the command prompt opens (black box), type tasklist and press enter.

Look for the program that you think is causing the problem.

ummmm specifically which .bat file are you attempting to run, and why are you trying to run it?
