blue screen of death

when i start up my laptop, i get the message:
***stop;;0x0000007B (0x81821210,0xc0000032,0x00000000,0x00000000)INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
If this is the first time, you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. if this screen appears again, follow these steps.
check for viruses on your computer. remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. run chkdsk/f to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
refer to your getting started manual for more information on troubleshooting stop errors.

my question is: how do i run chkdsk/f if i can't get to a black screen???

What device are you booting from? Hard drive? Have you tried booting from a CD? You could try booting from a KNOPPIX CD to access your hard drive.

I went into bios and changed the boot sequence and still no start.

When you say you changed the boot order, did you have a CD or system disk to boot from before it tried to boot from the hard drive?

If you can boot from a KNOPPIX CD, and your hard drive is functional, you should be able to mount it and do basic recovery.
