I installed XP pro in C disk and 2000 pro in D for one year. Recently XP pro did not work any longer, so I worked from 2000 pro and have C completely formated. After restarting once, the desktop does not start any more. Now I try to use an XP Home geniue disk to boot also no success. The error message is either "boot from CD-ROM failure" if I set first boot from CD, or it stops at "verifying DMI pooling data" when I set first boot from HDD.

Does anyone have the similar experience and how did you solve the problem? Thanks

It still should boot from the CD no matter what you did to the HD. Try F12. What's on the boot menu there?

Do you have any Live CDs, backtrack or BartPE. See if one of those boots.
