Hi all
When I run bryce 5, (3d rendering app) it seems to only utilize 50% of the cpu...
which seems odd, I have 1gb of Ram, which is being used...
(dont think it is using it all)
but I would love for bryce to use 100% of the cpu, to speed up renders..
any idea on why it is only using 50%, and anyone know how I can increase it?

thanks in advance

I think that the % actually has nothing to do with ram. that is if you are talking about the performance tab in the task manager. That has to do with the processor, and how much information is running through there.

If that is the case, I think 100% would be bad, 50% is pretty good

yea, i agree 100% would be bad...

but when that is running at 50%, nothing else is running....

so idle is at about 40%
just increasing it a touch would be nice...

I think Memory doesn't have too much to do with it, I have more then enough now

I beleive it all has to do with how many mhz you use between your processor, mobo, and ram.

I think the only way to increase your performance is to buy a new mobo, with a bigger chip and better DDR

Is it running slow for You? or are those renders taking a while?

There is some free ware out there that will help you utilize your ram better, perhaps that may save you a little time there

good idea...
the Ram is low latency DDR400 ram, 1gb's worth
I have used tweakxp numerous times, with the "memory optimization" tools

No, the program doesn't run slow, the renders take time tho, and when I looked at the cpu utilization I was a little shocked.

Thanks vlad
