When I look at laptops or flatscreens, I'm always amazed about the nice looking fonts on the screens. That is, the machines running WinXP. I found out that Windows uses a new type of font smoothing, called ClearType. They say that it looks blurry on "normal" CRT-monitors.

Well, it does! BUT, I downloaded ClearTweak from And with ClearTweak and some settings in the appearance (Display properties), I'm now looking at ClearType smoothed fonts.

It looks nice to me. I can't say whether you will like it too, but I do.
Use this tip at will!

Handy little utility. Offers a little more control then Microsoft's web based Clear Type Tuner.

I'm a big fan of Clear Type. I've used it as long as I've had XP. Looks real good on my Sony Flat Screen CRT.
